Flinbex Pty Ltd in Thursday Island, Queensland, is seeking experienced, qualified full-time workers in various positions to join their dynamic team.

Responsibilities: The role as the Café Manager is responsible for the overall running of a restaurant. Oversee every aspect of the dining establishment, including hiring and training staff, liaising with suppliers etc. Greeting and interacting with all customers, managing complaints and implementing new strategies to ensure the smooth running of the business.
Position Duties: You will need to undertake the following tasks;
1. Work with chefs to plan operations, menus and specials: Collaborate with the chef to develop menus and specials that are appealing to customers, and that meet their needs and preferences. Work with the chef to identify opportunities for improving operations and service delivery.
2. Lead the team in a hands-on manner: Be an active, hands-on manager who leads by example. Be present and visible in the café, and make sure that staff are working efficiently and effectively. Encourage a proactive and positive approach among staff.
3. Plan, hire, train, oversee and manage the members of staff: Hire and train the right staff, and oversee their work to ensure that they are performing well. Provide staff with ongoing training and development opportunities to help them improve their skills and knowledge.
4. Monitor and evaluate performance: Regularly monitor staff performance and provide feedback and coaching to help them improve. Also, be proactive in identifying and addressing any issues or grievances before they escalate.
5. Complete rostering as required and ensure staffing levels are monitored: Create and monitor staff rosters to ensure that you have sufficient staff to meet demand, while also managing staff costs.
6. Ensure quality control is maintained on all food and drink products: Ensure that all food and drink products meet the highest standards of quality, freshness and taste.
7. Stock control and conducting monthly stock-take: Monitor inventory levels and conduct regular stock-takes to ensure that you have the necessary supplies to operate smoothly, while also avoiding wastage.
8. Motivate your team to achieve sales targets: Set realistic sales targets and motivate your team to achieve them. Recognize and reward staff for their achievements, and provide ongoing feedback and coaching to help them improve.
9. Ability to deliver and adhere to budgets and targets including operational costs: Develop and adhere to budgets that help you to achieve your targets, while also managing costs effectively.
10. Manage the financial aspects of the business: Keep track of expenses and profits, and create and manage budgets to ensure that the café is financially sustainable.
11. Ensure dining facilities are clean, functional and of suitable appearance: Ensure that the dining area is clean, well-maintained and welcoming, with comfortable seating and a pleasant atmosphere.
12. Create and maintain a focus on providing an excellent and memorable customer experience: Develop a customer-centric culture that focuses on delivering excellent service and creating memorable experiences for customers.
13. Responsible for creating and implementing marketing strategies: Develop and implement marketing strategies that help to promote the café and attract new customers, while also retaining existing ones. Use a variety of marketing channels, including social media, email, and print media, to reach your target audience.
Criteria:
AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in a relevant field
A minimum of 2 years of full-time work experience
2. BAKER:
Duties include:
Checking the cleanliness of equipment and the operation of premises before production runs to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations
Checking the quality of raw materials and weighing ingredients
Kneading, maturing, cutting, moulding, mixing and shaping dough and pastry goods
Preparing pastry fillings
Monitoring oven temperatures and product appearance to determine baking times
Coordinating the forming, loading, baking, unloading, de-panning and cooling of batches of bread, rolls and pastry products
Glazing buns and pastries, and decorating cakes with cream and icing
Operating machines which roll and mould dough and cut biscuits
Emptying, cleaning and greasing baking trays, tins and other cooking equipment
Qualification: AQF Certificate III, including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV
Minimum one year of full-time work experience
3. CHEF:
Duties include:
To perform preparation and cooking duties as required
Maintain high levels of hygiene and safety for both food and equipment
Ensure kitchen equipment is maintained to a high standard at all times
Check the quality of all raw and cooked foods and ensure the highest standards are met
Control stock levels and stock orders as required
Check deliveries against orders and correctly store goods using stock rotation and maintain a clean, hygienic storage area according to the relevant health regulations
Assist the Head Chef with menu design and costing
Discuss food preparation issues with Head Chef, Manager, Kitchen and Waiting Staff.
Ensure appealing plate presentation
Assist in selecting and training staff
Communicate any concerns of the above to the Head Chef
Study each recipe and gather all the necessary ingredients.
Delegate tasks to kitchen staW and inform wait staW about daily specials
Qualifications:
Diploma in a relevant qualification;
OR
At least 3 years of full-time relevant experience as a Chef
4. BARISTA:
Duties include:
Preparing high-quality espresso-based coffee and hot drinksProviding friendly and professional customer service
Preparing light food items such as sandwiches and toasties
Maintaining cleanliness of the coffee station and work areas
Assisting with general cafe duties when required
Criteria:
AQF Certificate II or III in relevant field or at least 3 years of full time work experience
A remuneration package between $76,515 to $90,000 per annum plus superannuation, will be negotiated depending on skills and experience.
