Our Client The Trustee for LOVE ALTONA UNIT TRUST T/A Salt n Pepa Cafe is seeking two experienced Chefs to join their team located in Altona, VIC 3018. This role involves preparing and cooking a variety of meals, maintaining food quality and presentation, and ensuring efficient kitchen operations and hygiene standards.

• Plan, prepare and cook a variety of breakfast, lunch, light meals, sandwiches, salads, hot food and other menu items in accordance with recipes and quality standards.
• Prepare and cook meals for dine-in, takeaway and catering orders, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation and portion sizes.
• Assist in developing and updating menu items, including daily specials and catering selections, based on customer preferences and seasonal ingredients.
• Prepare ingredients by washing, cutting, chopping, marinating and portioning meat, vegetables and other food products required for service.
• Monitor food quality, freshness and presentation, and ensure all dishes are prepared and served within required timeframes.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness in food preparation and cooking areas, including compliance with relevant health regulations.
• Manage food preparation requirements and monitor stock levels, assisting with ordering and controlling food costs to minimise wastage.
• Coordinate with cafe staff during busy service periods to ensure efficient kitchen operations and timely preparation of customer and catering orders.

Qualifications

• Minimum Certificate IV qualification or equivalent studies, along with at least 2 years of relevant work experience, is required.
