We provide taxation, business advisory, and Self-Managed Superannuation Fund (SMSF) services to small and medium enterprises and individual clients across Victoria. We are now seeking a qualified and experienced Accountant to join our team on a full-time, ongoing basis.
About the Role
Reporting to the Director, the successful candidate will manage a portfolio of SME and individual clients, working across taxation, business advisory, and SMSF engagements. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated accountant looking to develop their career in a collaborative, client-focused public practice environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review income tax returns for individuals, sole traders, partnerships, companies, and trusts
- Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS), Instalment Activity Statements (IAS), PAYG, and FBT returns
- Prepare annual financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB)
- Administer and prepare financial statements, member statements, and tax returns for SMSF clients, ensuring compliance with the Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act 1993, associated regulations, and ATO guidelines
- Provide taxation and business advisory support to SME clients, including tax planning and compliance advice
- Liaise directly with clients, the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), auditors, and other third parties
- Prepare workpapers and supporting schedules to audit-ready standards
- Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure compliance with statutory record-keeping obligations
- Assist with the introduction and maintenance of client accounting systems and advise on the selection of computer-based accounting software
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or a closely related discipline
- Minimum 1 years' post-qualification experience in an Australian public practice or equivalent accounting role
- Sound working knowledge of Australian taxation law
- Demonstrated experience preparing tax returns and financial statements for a range of entity structures
- Proficiency in accounting and practice software
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
