Salary: $77,000 to $85,000 per annum plus 12% Superannuation

Maas Container Transport Pty Ltd is a growing logistics and container transport company operating across Australia, providing reliable freight movement, container handling, and transport solutions to a diverse client base. With a strong focus on operational efficiency, cost control, and service reliability, we are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to support our financial operations and contribute to the continued growth and stability of the business.
We are looking for a professional who can manage end-to-end accounting functions within a fast-paced transport and logistics environment, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong financial governance across all business activities.
The candidate in mind will be expected to perform the following duties that include but are not limited to:
- Preparing accurate and timely financial statements, management reports, and performance summaries for internal management and external stakeholders
- Assisting in the development, monitoring, and improvement of budgeting systems, financial policies, and internal controls
- Managing day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll oversight, and general ledger maintenance
- Analysing operational costs, transport expenses, revenue streams, and profitability across logistics operations
- Ensuring compliance with taxation requirements, including preparation and lodgement of business tax returns and BAS reporting
- Providing financial insights and recommendations to support business planning, investment decisions, and operational efficiency
- Conducting financial reviews and reconciliations to ensure accuracy of records and compliance with accounting standards
- Supporting audits, financial investigations, and risk assessments where required
- Monitoring cash flow, financial performance, and cost efficiency across transport operations
- Maintaining and improving accounting systems, including the use of accounting software and digital financial tools
- Liaising with banks, financial institutions, and external advisors to support funding, credit, and financial management arrangements
- Supporting management in evaluating financial risks associated with operational expansion, fleet investment, and capital expenditure
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (required)
- Professional certification such as CPA or CA is highly regarded
- Minimum 1 year of relevant accounting experience, preferably in transport, logistics, or similar industries
- Strong knowledge of Australian taxation laws, financial reporting standards, and compliance requirements
- Strong financial analysis, reporting, and problem-solving skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, or similar systems)
- Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and cost control principles
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with management, external auditors, and financial institutions
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently
