Position: Wall and Floor Tiler

Salary: $80,000 to $85,000 per annum plus superannuation

Hours: 38 hours per week

Mode: Full-time

Location: Perth, AU

The successful candidate will be responsible for installing ceramic, porcelain, stone and other types of tiles on internal and external walls and floors. The role requires practical tiling skills, attention to detail, the ability to interpret plans and the commitment to maintaining high standards of workmanship and workplace safety.

• Examine building plans, drawings and specifications to determine tiling requirements.
• Measure, mark and set out surfaces to establish tile layouts and patterns.
• Prepare wall and floor surfaces by removing old tiles, adhesive and grout, filling cracks and levelling uneven surfaces.
• Select appropriate tiles, adhesives, grouts and other tiling materials for each project.
• Cut and shape tiles using tile cutters and other suitable tools to fit corners, edges, pipes and fixtures.
• Apply adhesives and install tiles on walls, floors, bathrooms, kitchens and other designated areas.
• Ensure tiles are correctly aligned, evenly spaced and installed to the required specifications.
• Apply grout, seal joints and clean tiled surfaces to achieve a professional finish.
• Undertake wet-area preparation and waterproofing-related work where appropriately qualified and authorised.
• Inspect completed work, identify defects and carry out necessary adjustments or repairs.
• Maintain tools, equipment and materials in good working condition.
• Follow workplace health and safety requirements and applicable Australian building standards.
• Coordinate with supervisors, builders, other tradespeople and clients to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised worksite and minimise material wastage.

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

• Relevant qualifications in wall and floor tiling, such as Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling, or equivalent skills and experience.
• Demonstrated experience in residential and/or commercial tiling projects.
• Good knowledge of tile installation techniques, surface preparation, adhesives, grouting and finishing.
• The ability to accurately measure, calculate material requirements and interpret construction drawings.
• Proficiency in using tile-cutting equipment and standard tiling tools.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good time management, communication and problem-solving skills.
• A commitment to workplace safety and compliance with relevant standards.
